Currently, Didi offers a full range of app-based transportation options for 550 million users, including taxi, express, premier, bus, designated driving, bike sharing and car sharing, ferried around by more than 31 million drivers.
China's internet giant Tencent is betting on the country's smart transportation market, expanding its presence in fields ranging from subway QR code payment to bus hailing.
Tencent's QR code payment service for buses, subways, cableways and ferries has so far covered more than 50 million users in 100 cities since 2017.
It is also piloting a bus hailing business in central China's Zhengzhou, and exploring the application of cloud computing and big data in analyzing real-time traffic data for smarter transportation management.
"Traffic jams, parking difficulties and overcrowding on buses and subways are the top three problems for urban commuters in China, according to a report released by a think tank under Tencent Financial Technology earlier this month.
Lingo Bus, a subsidiary of China's largest online education startup VIPKID, is looking to expand its overseas presence significantly to become the world's largest online Chinese-teaching platform within three years.
"We will beef up our presence in the overseas market, especially in Southeast Asia as well as countries and regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative," said Su Haifeng, head of Lingo Bus.
Different from classroom courses, Lingo Bus provides one-on-one personalized online Chinese lessons for children aged between 5 and 12.
Children of overseas Chinese have become the main pillar of demand, according to Lingo Bus.
