Costa Coffee launched the low-sugar and low-fat light milk tea in March this year with three different flavors: grape jasmine, lychee black and peach oolong.

Nestle's local research team launched a series of new instant coffee products with three flavors - peach, pineapple and green apple - to attract younger Chinese consumers.

The bright, summery package design highlighting its three flavors -- peach, pineapple and green apple -- is different from the company's traditional instant coffee products.

Based on Chinese culture and the new consumption trend, Tok and her team introduced the peach blossom series with many Pandora Rose and Silver products, including necklaces and earrings, exclusively for the China market in early April.

A variety of lychee from China's southern Hainan province and a type of peach from western Xinjiang were ranked top on the list.

It is not just appliances that are selling like hot cakes this summer, which also brings a windfall of fruits such as lychees and peaches.

Juicy peaches from Ningbo's Fenghua district are known for their sweet taste and were named one of China's geographical indications, a legal label for products that come from a particular region.

The popular peaches are a major source of income for farmers.

With the arrival of summer, Jiang Mi is currently hard at work in the Jiang's Peach Garden in Zhuangyuan'ao village.

The peach garden, which was established by her grandfather Jiang Yongren in 1984, has been run for three generations.

For peach farmers, rising temperatures are a curate's egg.

Jiang explained: "High temperatures often come with plenty of sunlight, which brings sweeter peaches.

"Thanks to the development of cold chain logistics, the efficiency of the peach shipments has been greatly improved.

"Jiang said that it took farmers no more than 24 hours to deliver the peaches to customers in Shanghai and Hangzhou after picking them.

The effective logistic services have also boosted peach sales while her sales territory has expanded.

"Now we sell peaches to clients across the country, including the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Tibet autonomous region, and Heilongjiang and Hainan provinces," Jiang said.

"They can receive peaches within three days after placing an order.

As peach farmers in Fenghua have ushered in the peak sales period, delivery companies are accelerating their shipment services.

"SF Express has also helped locals send Fenghua peaches to the Hong Kong market for eight years.

"The first shipment of peaches has been sent to the Netherlands in mid-July," said Fu Zhenghua, the company's general manager.

Thanks to the smooth export operation, the company plans to export 100 boxes of peaches to Singapore.

While Fenghua peaches are reaching overseas customers, a cold freight train carrying some 500 metric tons of durians and other fruits from Thailand arrived in Chongqing in Southwest China in June.

Products such as saponin and peach gum, which have cosmetic functions, especially for women, have been sold in Guangdong and Fujian provinces, in addition to being exported to Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore and Thailand.

"In our country, expressways are a preferred and often chosen means of transportation," said driver Guo Qiang, adding that locals can now transport regional delicacies, such as plums, dragon fruit, peaches and sugar cane, more quickly to the GBA.

The red bean, egg yolk and matcha flavors are particularly popular in Japan, and the company plans to introduce peach, milk tea and mango flavors in the next phase.

That includes strawberries, cherries, sweet apricots, grapes, peaches, nectarines, pears, kiwi fruits, jujubes, apples and persimmons.

Guquan village in Mengyin county, Linyi, Shandong province has undergone a remarkable transformation from a once economically poor community to a model of prosperity thanks to the local peach industry.

"Villagers in Guquan have the tradition of planting peaches, so we focus on deeply developing the peach industry," said Liu.

The village has been cooperating with companies and colleges to develop new peach varieties to meet various consumer demands.

To date, the village has develop more than 30 varieties of peach.

Peaches grown in the village have been sold to overseas markets including Southeast Asian countries.

Thanks to the peach industry, the collective economy of the village has surged to 2 million yuan ($279,513) in two years.

Local governments open more channels to boost agriculture, farmers' incomesQiao Chuanjun, 52, relocated from Suzhou in northern Anhui province 16 years ago to Yu'an district of Lu'an in western Anhui to pursue his dream of a better life by planting peach trees.

With his wife, their daughter and son-in-law, another of his relatives and himself, Qiao's family farm of five rents 960 mu (64 hectares) of land from some 200 local farmers to plant over 20 types of peach trees — he made his dream come true.

"I earn money through appropriately scaled agricultural operations," Qiao noted, adding that since October 2021, he has spent some 5 million yuan in leveling the soil and planting new varieties of peaches.

"I focus on gem products — the cash-cow peaches," he said, noting that his peaches are mainly sold to Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, Guangdong province.

Guiding county in Guizhou province has developed an integrated industry of agriculture and tourism by planting rape flowers, pear and yellow peach.

"This variety of yellow peach has a good look and tastes juicy," said Lian Shidong, a farmer in the village of Xinzhuang, as he trimmed the branches of a peach tree.

The town now has over 4,466 hectares of land for fruit cultivation, mainly peaches, pears, hawthorns and grapes, town officials said.

The fruit, especially canned yellow peaches, is said to strengthen the body against disease as well as be delicious.

Difang's companies produced 720,000 tons of canned foods last year, mainly yellow peaches, pears, hawthorns, tangerines, grapes, pineapples and fish, officials said.

She and her friend ordered a peach oolong-flavored tiramisu, coconut milk jelly and a pot of Longjing osmanthus black tea.

Countrywide, rape flowers, cherry blossoms and peach blossoms have received the most attention, as the varieties are widely planted and their blooming seasons come relatively earlier.

Tulips, jacaranda, and peach blossoms stand as the new favorites for visitors this year, according to Suzhou-based online travel agency Tongcheng Travel.

Some of the most popular matchmaking reality shows aimed at older viewers include Choice on the Beijing Television life channel, Peach Blossom on the business channel of Hubei Television, The Pursuit of Happiness on Suzhou Television, Never Too Late to Meet You on Jilin Television, and Love's Choice on Liaoning Television.

Fruits and foodstuffs from China, including waxberries, green plums, juicy peaches and unagi, are experiencing a sales boom in overseas markets this year.

After three years of applications to gain qualification from the government, Li Jing, general manager of Shanghai Hongjiu Agricultural Development Co Ltd, said the company shipped two tons of juicy peaches produced in Nanhui, a part of Shanghai Pudong New Area, to Singapore by air on July 20.

Nongfu Spring rolled out its peach-flavored soda water in April, advertising on ingredients including peaches in Fukushima, Japan.

It has a grapefruit and sea salt flavor along with a peach oolong flavor.

Peach blossom, rose, litchi and plum wine are the most popular.

"The mascot for the 2020 World Leisure Conference – Tao Tao, a cartoon incarnation of the district's peach – will be released at the opening ceremony.

Last year, the ice cream maker introduced special ice cream flavors like cherry blossom, lavender and blueberry, and raspberry and white peach in China.

For example, in February the Belgian company AB InBev launched Ritas Spritz, with a lower alcohol content and flavors that include White Peach Rose, Pear Orange Sangria and Strawberry Blueberry Sangria.

Smash hit dramas like Legend of Fuyao and Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms have been adapted from popular online stories, attaching even more attention to the booming new business.

For instance, the mega-hit drama Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms was based on popular online stories.

For almost four decades, Yu Huanqin, a peach farmer in Yangshan township in East China's Jiangsu province, has kept records of peach prices in every harvest season.

Yu, 63, has seen peach prices surge from a few cents per kilogram in the late 1980s to more than 50 yuan ($7.40) per kg today.

"I have visited almost all the famous tourist spots in China, with the money earned from my peach business," she said.

Yu was a television antenna saleswoman before she returned home in 1984 to plant peaches in her family's orchard.

The decision was made as Yangshan switched its focus from grain to peach cultivation after China's economic reform 40 years ago.

Yu's success is indicative of Yangshan's booming peach industry.

Yangshan has about 2,133 hectares of peach trees, yielding 50,000 metric tons of peaches per year, worth more than 500 million yuan.

The town is known across China for its remarkably sweet and succulent honey peaches, dubbed "the best peach on Earth" by The Wall Street Journal in 2009.

Like Yu, Luo Shengkang returned to Yangshan to join the peach boom, setting up a peach production cooperative in 2010 after graduating from a university in Nanjing, the provincial capital.

"And I saw great potential in scale production of honey peaches in Yangshan.

"In 2008, local authorities pledged to facilitate land transfer in Yangshan to promote large-scale peach production in the form of farmer cooperatives, family farms and joint partnerships.

Yangshan currently has 200 peach production cooperatives and more than 30 family peach farms.

Luo's cooperative, Youyou Orchard Cooperative, has a peach farm that occupies about 6.7 hectares, with a revenue of nearly 5 million yuan last year.

The cooperative mainly sells peaches through e-commerce platforms such as Taobao and WeChat stores.

The peaches are packed in fancy gift boxes, instead of being sold by the kilo or in baskets as they were in the past.

Farmers like Yu Huanqin are also selling their peaches online.

"When I was a kid, peach farmers in Yangshan carried their peaches to the pier, and the peaches were later shipped to nearby Suzhou and Shanghai.

In the 1980s, I put peaches in baskets and carried them on my bicycle to sell," she said.

Now she only needs to wait at home for staff from courier companies to collect her peaches and transport them to customers across the country.

The model, priced from 37,600 yuan ($5,737) to 43,600 yuan, is available in three colors — avocado green, white peach pink and lemon yellow, which were chosen by Wuling with the help of Pantone, the global authority on color and design.

Last year, the Beijing branch of China Post and the Beijing Pinggu district government jointly held a livestreaming session for locally grown peaches.

During the session which received 280,000 views, 28,000 boxes of peaches were sold, Qiang said.
