Redmi, an independent brand of Xiaomi Corp, unveiled its first smart TV on Thursday, signaling the Chinese smartphone vendor's further ambition to expand its presence in the TV sector.
Despite some overseas challenges, Huawei also took a record 38 percent of China's smartphone market in the second quarter of 2019, signifying the highest market share of any vendor in eight years, according to data released by market research company Canalys.
She concluded that "what I'm trying to convey is that the assessment of cybersecurity should not be based upon the nationality of a vendor or a company. "
Huawei, a worldwide leading vendor of equipments to telecommunications operators such as Vodafone, has also become in recent years an international powerhouse of consumer devices such as smartphones which run on the Android system.
Huami helps Xiaomi Corp design and manufacture wearables including fitness trackers and smartwatches, enabling Xiaomi to overtake Apple Inc as the top wearable vendor in the third quarter of 2018.
Responding to questions on whether the company is worried about the environment overseas, with rival Huawei banned from providing 5G services in the United States due to security concerns, Xiao said, "The cybersecurity issue is not related to a single or specific vendor, it is a common issue for everybody – vendors, operators as well as regulators".
The move is part of Huawei's broader effort to offset the fallout of the US administration's ban on the world's second-largest smartphone vendor and the world's largest telecom equipment maker.
