French utility Engie is looking to further expand in China's renewable energy sector, seeking to expand its footprint in the nation, said Isabelle Kocher, CEO of French energy company Engie Group.
Engie launched its first lab in China in April to focus on integrated infrastructure design and create an innovative approach in the optimization of utility design.
"The opportunity for foreign utilities to invest in China's growing electric power grid networks is exciting as only the power generation sector has been open to foreign investment," said Joseph Jacobelli, a senior analyst of Asian utilities at Bloomberg.
"Some of the utilities that already have a presence in China could potentially be the initial investors.
"The Philippines is a promising market for Chinese investors in various sectors such as transport and logistics, public utilities and energy.
According to Joseph Jacobelli, a senior analyst of Asian utilities at Bloomberg, as the world's largest renewable energy market, China is at the forefront of renewable energy, while State Grid's strong balance sheets will drive it to diversify its operations overseas.
With this, public utilities are likely to be managed in a commercial way and privately owned enterprises' integration ability can allocate resources more rationally," Wen said.
