Santen Pharmaceutical, a leading ophthalmic company from Japan, broke ground of its largest plant worldwide in East China's Suzhou city on Thursday, aiming to serve the country's surging demand for eye health products.
The company said some 840 million eye drops are expected to be produced from the new site.
But Yamada anticipated the nation to become the largest single market by 2030, fueled by robust growth in both juvenile myopia-related business and the aging population eye health issues such as glaucoma.
"I think the 'Healthy China 2030' is a great opportunity for us, given that the awareness of eye diseases is increasing…and government initiatives and policies are being implemented," he said.
Victoria's Secret, the United States-based lingerie retailer, is opening more stores and launching exclusive swimwear collections in China this year, with an eye on further expanding its presence in the country.
With an eye on Chinese users' increasing demand for language learning, Duolingo will upgrade the current entry-level content and offer high-level courses.
"The newly launched camera oriented device which comes with a 44MP eye autofocus front camera uses advanced AI algorithms to focus on moving subjects for clear selfies and targets the growing numbers of young technology consumers in the country," Irungu said in a statement.
With an eye on a larger global footprint and to offer more focused services, the company has set up marketing and management teams in a number of global locations such as the US and Germany.
The exploration will enhance the efficiency of contact lens fitting and elevate user experience through an advanced artificial intelligence algorithm that helps improve the eye health of consumers.
